Background

Emily McCormick received her Paralegal Licence from the Law Society of Ontario in 2018
after completing her Bachelor of Arts degree in Honours Criminology from Wilfrid
Laurier University.

Emily’s law career began as a legal assistant at a Waterloo law firm supporting a busy
commercial litigation practice. In 2020, Emily joined Morrison Reist Krauss working with
the employment law team as Litigation Clerk to Melanie Reist and Legal
Assistant/Litigation Clerk to Maxwell Bauer.

Emily brings an innate sense of compassion to her work and has demonstrated a
commitment to helping those in need. Prior to obtaining her undergraduate degree,
Emily completed a Human Service Foundations certificate from Fanshawe College in
2013, which specifically developed her understanding and skills working with people
facing challenging situations.

Expertise

Emily excels in her understanding and practical application of the Rules of Civil
Procedure, the Rules of the Small Claims Court and the Ontario Superior Court of Justice
filing and administrative procedures. In 2022, Emily began to offer Paralegal services to
the clients of Morrison Reist Krauss LLP, ensuring they have optimal access to justice.
This service provides clients with legal representation when they may otherwise face
barriers securing the legal services they need.
